As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible year filled with community events, fundraising, and joyful moments. This year, we organized three 5K Family Fun Run/Walks, participated in a major fundraiser for Abbeyfeale for Axel, and wrapped up the year with our festive Santa’s Greenway Fancy Dress Cycle in Ardagh.
5K Family Fun Run/Walks
In partnership with The Limerick Mental Health Association and Limerick City and County Council, we hosted three 5K Family Fun Run/Walks along the beautiful Limerick Greenway, with events in Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, and Rathkeale.
These events weren’t just about getting out and moving; they were about bringing communities together. Mental health is such an important topic right now, and it was heartwarming to see local families and individuals come out in great numbers to support each other. From enjoying the scenic surroundings to catching up with neighbors, these events showed the power of connection and community spirit.
Abbeyfeale for Axel Fundraiser
This year, we were honored to be part of the Abbeyfeale for Axel fundraiser, supporting young Axel Horgan, one of just 200 people worldwide living with Cloves Syndrome. We helped organize a 5K run and 2K walk that raised nearly €1,400.
The event itself was a huge success, featuring over 30 vendors, entertainment, and incredible community involvement. In total, the day raised over €22,000 for Axel’s cause. We were so proud to contribute to such an important initiative and see the overwhelming support from the town and surrounding areas.
Santa’s Greenway Fancy Dress Cycle
We ended the year on a festive note with the Santa’s Greenway Fancy Dress Cycle, held at the Ardagh hub of the Limerick Greenway. Families got the chance to cycle with Santa and his helpers between Ardagh and Newcastle West.
The day was filled with holiday cheer, thanks to Limerick’s Live 95FM, who kept the Christmas tunes flowing. We also had face painting, refreshments, and prizes for the best-dressed participants. The smiles and laughter made this event truly special and a fantastic way to celebrate the holiday season.
Reflecting on 2024
Each event this year was unique, but they all shared a common goal: bringing people together. At Flexitime, we’re not just about connecting people with wellness professionals—we’re about fostering connections within our communities and providing spaces to support and uplift one another.
